It is a medium-sized polymer-framed 9mm pistol that uses a lockable brake system referred to as "Safe Action". It is a combination of trigger safety, firing pin safety, and drop safety that makes it impossible for a loaded gun to fire even if bumped or struck unless someone actually pulls the trigger. Because it does not have a hammer, the spring-loaded striker (gun) is technically blocked, partially retracted and not in geometrical coverage with the chambered charge. Only by pressing the trigger, which fully retracts and then releases the firing pin, is the pistol capable of firing. The absence of a hammer also provides a smoother profile that reduces both size and weight and optimizes for a smoother draw from concealment. The Glock 19X has the advantage of not having a manual safety, eliminating the need to consciously think about deactivating such a device in a fatal encounter. This is the ultimate sight gun. With 50% fewer parts than conventional pistols of the same caliber, this means fewer parts need to be broken down and you can literally take the gun apart and then reassemble it in seconds. The frame is made from a synthetic polymer that is actually stronger than steel, yet is 86% lighter and virtually indestructible. It can withstand temperatures from -40 F to +158 F and still burn. An integrated accessory rail provides the added benefit of quickly attaching lasers and/or lights for low visibility applications. The ergonomic grip angle is designed to allow the shooter to quickly deploy the pistol in tight shooting conditions. This series is referred to as "Gen5" and has several notable improvements over its Gen4 predecessors. Most notable is the lack of a finger groove and the addition of a double-sided slide stop. The gun also has a new nPVD finish that is highly resistant to wear and corrosion. The textured grip allows for a more aggressive grip on the weapon, especially in situations where maximum draw and retention can mean the difference between life and death. An enlarged double-sided magazine cap makes reloading easier. A strong recoil spring slightly reduces recoil and also extends the life of the gun. Glock supplies a third magazine with Gen4 pistols that offer added firepower. The Glock 19X Gen5 has an excellent ergonomic design where a highly efficient axis distribution to weight ratio ensures controlled shots, even in rapid fire conditions. In addition, the polymer frame also provides a much softer recoil feel than most conventional metal frame pistols. The gun weighs just over 21 ounces and has a DAO trigger of approximately 5.5 pounds. Glock 19 Gen5 pistols come with one full 17-round magazine and two extended 19-round magazines. A set of three dot sights sits on top of the slide, is easy to see, easy to use, and tracks quite well. The 4.02" Glock Marksman barrel from the Glock 19X provides greater accuracy than previous barrels.

I had a gen4 19 that I sold and upgraded to a 19x. It came out a week or two ago and I can't find it anywhere. I drove about 45 minutes to get one of these. Anyway, it's a bit heavier, but sits more comfortably when aiming down. It also feels more balanced. I saw a decent upgrade in terms of my grouping compared to my older 19. Although I didn't have a side-by-side test to go out with, you could probably chalk it up to being excited about a new toy. , but it really is. One thing I wish was serrations on both ends of the gun as well, but it's not really necessary, nor is it necessary. The trigger is nice and smooth as expected from a Glock. As a combat medic I give it 5 stars. Too bad you messed up that deal. I'm trying to get you to fix it. Especially with the problems they are now experiencing with the new Sigs.

First time at the range with the 19x I consistently drilled a 1-2" hole at 7 yards. It's a controller!!! No problems with it. My only problem is finding coyote mags for it. I'm so happy I bought this one piece I'm actually ditching my M&P VTac 9mm in favor of a 19x.

I love this gun, I went to buy a gen 4 19, they didn't have it. I read so much about this gun that I had to get it and when I did I had to buy it, bought mine for 602 plus tax.
I got the G19X a few weeks ago. I was a little skeptical based on the reviews but I have to say I really like the 17 and 19 combo. I like the extra mags and the grip accessories too. I'm waiting for a lot more accessories to match the flat earth finish. Overall, a very durable and reliable gun that does what it's supposed to do.
It's been a long time. I've carried the 17 since '86 and never had a problem even though it's nowhere near stock. I also love the 19 but never buy because of the shortened handle. Problem fixed in 19X. Nice to see it in .357 Sig. G31X. I also miss the pins from Gen 3. Excellent shooters, but do it in black or FDE. Thanks Glock. Bullseye with this one.
Another Glock 19x Being Discontinued Rumor...or Not?
I absolutely love this Glock, I really wish the military would take it instead. I like the color and finish of the gun. It shoots like a dream and you get several high capacity magazines with it. Now it's generally my daily wear. I would recommend finding a line that has it and giving it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Everything you want for a service pistol and EDC. It rides so well for EDC carry at 12 o'clock, and the longer grip and extended magazines allow you to draw your kydex faster on duty. The perfect cross between a 17 and a 19 with Gen 5 updates. Plus there are no toe grooves. The advantage is a wider mag. well. I'm left-handed, so the left-handed release and slide are a plus. Very minimal recoil. If you're looking for a hybrid for EDC and duty all in one, this is for you. A longer grip is easy
